Hand-Painted backplates – Art in the smallest details

One of the most distinctive features of my Blythe dolls is the hand-painted artwork on the back of the head. Using acrylic paints, I primarily create detailed portraits, transforming each doll into a miniature canvas. However, portraits are only one possibility - other motifs can be chosen as well, allowing each doll to become a truly personal and unique piece of art. This hidden detail turns every doll into something special, combining craftsmanship, creativity, and storytelling in a subtle yet meaningful way.

The color palette

Every color used in my paintings is mixed by hand. I do not work with ready-made shades, because achieving realism requires precision, patience, and a deep understanding of color. Finding the right tones - especially for skin, shadows, and subtle transitions - is essential to bringing a portrait to life.

By carefully mixing each color, I can control warmth, depth, and harmony, allowing the image to feel natural and realistic. This process takes time, but it is what gives the artwork its authenticity and emotional presence. The palette becomes the foundation of the painting, ensuring that every detail works together to create a lifelike result.
